Description

I wasn't sure what category to post this to - it's not really a painting, 3D or a drawing, so... (!?!)

A client needed photos of a coin they were having minted as a collectable for ads they were running.
Problem is, they wanted to start running the ads and selling the medallion before the were actually produced.(!?!)
They sent me a couple sketches (see link below) and asked me to create representations they could use in place of photos.

You are seeing an enlarged version as the originals appeared in the ad at the actual size of 2 inches in diameter.

Illustrator & Photoshop CS - I suppose this could be my "Eternal Bird" entry even tho I had other plans and a better idea for that, just no time to render it...

YAY another coin design....when you mentioned you worked for a minting agency (in your crit on my coin design) I was wondering if I would ever see some of your handy work on the genre.

Are they going to hook you up with one since you helped out so much? I think it would only be fair....my coins finally came in about 2 weeks ago, and we received 5 gold versions of them....my Commander was nice enough to give me one as well as the original as a token of apprciation.

Great job DD on this one...who thought a coin about chickens could look so regal ;)

crap....i still haven't commented on your other logo posting...I'M SO FAR BEHIND!!! :( Sorry!

Thanks all, for your comments!

Well, what are you waiting for, man! That one and a few others!
Hey Wyzzy, haven't seen you around for awhile - CO riding your arse before your tour of duty ends?!!

Didn't get one of these, but have a slew of them from other projects; Disney, SONY Superstars Celebrity Series, Super Bowl, etc. Even freelanced the relief sculpting for a bunch of 'em, too!

Left the minting place 4 years ago. Most of the coin design I did was simple b&w line or toned art - nothing really exciting. Didn't have to take it to this extreme often as we usually photographed the product after it was minted.

My "gig" there was as Art Director and lead design - so mostly did ad design, point of purchase displays, packaging design, and all the corporate branding stuff/collateral, etc. The designers I had in my dept. did most the coin design (grunt work!)

Anyway, good to see you haunting around a bit!

My thanks for everyone's kind comments.

KKat, thanks for the heads up, but I was able to read all the file uploads fine after I saw your comment. When I came back to the site later, I had a message from Arno that said this had been "unpublished" due to broken links (?) and about not using hosting services that do not allow direct linking. Only problem is, I use Creationstorm hosting that I think is owned/operated by the GFX Artist clan here, so I have no idea what the problem was. Everything seems to be ok now tho.

Thanks all. I don't know what's up with the thumbs. I view them just fine on my computer in the edit area and in the "My Artwork" section even after I log out, empty my cache, clear my history, etc., etc.

I loaded versions KKat sent me - don't know if that helps put someone please let me know!
